In 2011, I founded Preting Consulting to combine the ingenuity of the intelligence community with the flexibility and innovation of the commercial sectors and the systematic procedures of the law enforcement world to provide clients with insightful, forward-focused solutions.
For the past five years, we’ve focused on the user experience and trying to make working for and with Preting easy and rewarding. I am proud to announce that Preting has become a Certified B Corporation. All of us at Preting were already trying to do good things and becoming a Certified B Corporation helps raise awareness to our internal team and external partners.
B Corporations are a new kind of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Preting is joining more than 1,000 Certified B Corporations from more than 60 industries in 34 countries with one unifying goal – to redefine success in business. We became a B Corp to heighten awareness – our own and others’ – that business success should be based on more than just financial gain. The values espoused by the B Corp community align with our company values and priorities.
Here at Preting we seek to be a different kind of government consulting company. While the people and mission remain ever important, building and sustaining a successful company requires a 21st century model. We empower our employees and contractors to grow in and outside the company through personal, professional and social/environmental goals. In doing so, we focus beyond the bottom line on the people we impact, the communities we serve and environment we preserve.
One way we give back is through Preting Perks. Each month, we select a different company or cause to support. Employees help us choose the entities through an annual survey. We select a mix of companies that sell a product, such as chocolate or coffee, and organizations that do good, like Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We directly support the entities by purchasing goods for our employees or make donations to causes and promote the entities to our social media community. For example, with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary we sponsored an animal that our employees selected through an online survey. We combine perks to our team with giving back to the community. Our employees love it!
Becoming a Certified B Corporation took time, effort and dedication. I appreciate Team Preting for helping us join the movement.
